AWARD CATEGORIES

This years Manchester Young Talent Awards consist of 14 different award categories across a variety of sectors, there is something for everyone. We want to champion young people across the whole of Greater Manchester. The criteria for nominees includes the following:

  • Aged between 18 and 40 inclusive at the date of submission (except “Rising Star”: 18-26).

  • UK resident and working in and around Manchester.

Our awards reflect the diverse community that makes up Manchester’s young professionals. We encourage nominations across all races, genders, religion, identity, and experience. 

1. Most Promising Young Person in Manchester (Rising Star Award)

The rising star award recognises a young professional aged 18-26 who is making a valuable contribution to their employer or the city of Manchester. The judges are looking for someone who stands out from their peers and is achieving above and beyond expectations at a young age. This can be demonstrated through the nominees technical, commercial or practical abilities, including engaging and responding to the demands they face from their clients or customers and the role/sector they work in. 

This award is also suitable for apprentices, and nominees aged 18-26, may enter this and another category.


2. Legal Professional of the Year

 

This award recognises an individual who is making an exceptional contribution to the legal profession. Nominees can be paralegals, trainee solicitors, legal executives or qualified solicitors. The judges are looking for someone who has demonstrated exemplary performance in their field of expertise, standing out from their peers. This can be demonstrated through their technical legal ability, client care/focus, pro bono work, recognition of their work on major cases, projects or investigations and engaging and responding to demands faced by clients and the legal sector.

3. Entrepreneur of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has identified and capitalised on an opportunity to develop their own or start a new business or who has created an innovative idea to improve an existing process or service. The judges are looking for a nominee who has achieved the above through hard work, dedication and determination. This can be demonstrated through technical, commercial or practical abilities.

4. PA/EA or Business Support Professional of the Year

This award recognises a Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant or Business Support Professional who has shown an outstanding commitment to their business or organisation. Nominees should be able to demonstrate how their skills and hard work have had an effect on the running of the business or organisation they work for.

 

5. Talent, HR & Recruiter of the Year

 

This award recognises an individual who has exceeded their firm’s expectations/targets consistently through hard work and dedication. Nominees are invited from across the recruitment, talent and HR sector. The judges are looking for an individual who can demonstrate how they are the best young HR/talent or recruitment professional within the Manchester region. This can be done through target figures and their response to the demands of their role and sector.

6. Finance Professional of the Year

 

This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the financial services industry. Nominations are welcome from finance professionals working in practice or industry and from any background. The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best finance professional within the Manchester region. This can be done by showing recognition for their work on major deals or projects, client care and focus and how they engage with the demands of their clients, profession and the finance sector.

 

7. Sale and Business Development Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has positively enhanced the image and reputation of a company through their ideas and hard work. Entrants are invited from across a variety of sectors that incorporate key roles in sales and business development. The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges why they are the Sales and Business Development Professional of the Year. This can be done by showcasing how they have achieved or surpass their targets, their commercial and practical abilities and their response to the demands faced from their profession and sector.


8. Marketing & PR Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has positively enhanced the image and reputation of a company through their creative ideas and campaigns. Entrants are invited from across a variety of sectors incorporating key roles in marketing and PR, including but not limited to assistants, executives and managers. The judges are looking for an individual who can showcase their work on marketing and PR campaigns, how they meet and care for their clients and respond to the demands of their role and sector.


9. Digital, Media or Creative Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who is technically and commercially the best digital, media or creative professional. Nominees are invited from across the digital, media and creative sectors, including but not limited to assistants, executives, directors, and designers. The judges are looking for an individual who can demonstrate their technical, commercial and practical abilities and their work on major digital or creative projects. 


10. Property Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who is making an outstanding impact to the property sector. Entries are welcomed from property professionals in practice or industry and with any background. The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the Property Professional of the year, through their work, client care and focus, and responding to the demands they face from their clients, profession and sector.

11. Mentor of the Year

 

This award recognises an individual aged 18-40 who is giving back to the Manchester community through mentoring another young professional. Nominees should be able to demonstrate how their role as a mentor has affected themselves and most importantly their mentees life. 

12. Charity supporter of the year (previously fundraiser of the year) - charity - team or individual

This award recognises a team or individual who over the past 12 months have raised a large amount of money or awareness for a chosen charity, not for profit or social enterprise. The judges are looking for those who can describe events or activities which they have organised; to benefit the charity.

13.Team of the Year

This award recognises a team who have raised their organisation’s profile, had a positive impact on their community or made an outstanding contribution to their industry/sector. Entries are welcomed from teams working in the Manchester area and from any background. The judges are looking for teams that can demonstrate the above qualities, by showcasing the work, projects or deals they have done, and their client/customer care and focus.


14. Hospitality team of the year

This award recognises a team in the hospitality industry who have gone above and beyond their duty. The team should be able to demonstrate examples of how they have exceeded expectations of their venue and customers.
